Children show a remarkable capacity for learning languages at a very young age. In many countries, children often learn two, three and sometimes four languages concurrently. Current research shows that children 2 -12 years of age master a second language with an ease not seen in any other age group. There appears to be a distinct window of opportunity for the acquisition of another language. For that reason we proudly include a Spanish curriculum to each of our preschool programs.
Children experience formal Spanish lessons twice per week beginning at the age of two. Children are exposed to the sounds of the Spanish language through a variety of listening and speaking activities. Because children enjoy repeating words in Spanish, our teachers incorporate Spanish words throughout the day in the children’s favorite activities, songs, stories, games and pretend play. Fun-filled lessons also introduce vocabulary, including greetings, numbers, food, clothing, animals and the weather. The Spanish language is also blended into our other educational programs to ensure consistent awareness and repetition.
